Are Commercial Pest Control Services Necessary During the Winter? | San Joaqin Pest Control

The winter time comes with a lot of extras for individuals and businesses alike. There are extra expenses to consider-such as gifts and holiday parties-as well as additional events on the calendar. Most of the extras in the winter are good but it can leave you looking for ways to cut out unnecessary tasks and expenses. At San Joaquin Pest Control, our clients sometimes ask if they need to continue with commercial pest control services in the winter. Pests seem less active in the winter and it would be nice to skip a treatment or two and use that money for some of the extras that come up this time of year. The reality is that skipping out on pest control services during the winter can lead to big problems for businesses.

There are many types of pests that stay active through the winter and will infest your business if given the chance. No business owner wants to deal with the fallout that comes from have a pest problem. Even if your business does not immediately develop an infestation, stopping your services temporarily can open you up to problems down the line.

Some pests are still active throughout the winter

It would be nice if all pests would die off, migrate, or go into hibernation during the winter. Unfortunately, pests are not that accommodating. The reality is that there are many types of pests that remain active all through the winter. This means that they continue to be a threat to your business even when it is cold outside. Two pests that can continue to cause your business issues in the winter are cockroaches and rodents. If you have ever dealt with either of these pests then you know how quickly an infestation can develop and grow. The best way to prevent this from happening is to stay consistent with your pest control services throughout the year.

Your business cannot afford a pest infestation

A pest infestation in your business can do serious-and sometimes permanent-damage to its reputation. This is especially true if you own a restaurant or work in the food service industry in some capacity. The idea of pests around their food makes people crazy. You risk irreparable damage to your business if you decide to skip out on some of your preventative pest control services and develop an infestation.

Avoid future problems

Getting regularly scheduled pest control services deals with any current issues and helps protect you for the future. You may not immediately develop a pest problem after skipping one treatment but you open your business up to future problems. A gap in protection may be just what pests need to edge their way into your business and set up residence.

Consistency and proactivity are two keys to keeping your business pest free all year long. It is tempting to cut out all non-essentials to make it through the extras that come with winter. But, it is important to understand that commercial pest control services are not a non-essential if you own a business. They are part of protecting your customers and maintaining your ability to stay open. Do not risk developing a pest issue that can impact your business for the long term in an effort to save a few dollars in the short term.
