Did you know Kern County is the fourth-biggest agriculture county in the United States? That’s a ton of fruits and vegetables. And with all of those fruits and vegetables, there are also plenty of pests around; which means pest control companies have cropped up to deal with those issues.
But how do you pick just one? How can you settle on the right company? We’d like to offer some advice.
Devote some time to this search
You could dust off the yellow pages and just start calling people, but that book might not be up-to-date. We recommend sitting in front of the computer and Googling around a bit. Google has made major strides in recent years to improve its local search, so you should have no problem locating some nearby pest control companies.
Scope out the potential candidates
Once you’ve picked out a few names, it’s time to do some research. Google each business you’re interested in and see what you find. With some luck, there might be online reviews available (on sites like Yelp! and Angie’s List).
You should also look for each company’s website (assuming they have one). Does the website look professional? Does it seem to represent a company that values its image? A company without a website should give you pause; in 2016, every business need a website.
Discuss your specific concerns with the finalists
Once you’ve done your homework, it’s time to make a selection. We recommend dropping in for an informal visit or calling the business to discuss your specific problem. Ask plenty of questions, especially about guarantees and costs. What happens if the pest problem reemerges? Will there be follow-up appointments necessary? Get the answers you need; a pest control expert that’s unwilling to provide them probably isn’t worth your time.
