The Most Effective Options for Eliminating Pests

The Most Effective Options for Eliminating Pests | San Joaquin Pest ControlThe best process for eliminating pests depends on a few factors. The type of pest, size of the infestation, and the type of property can all impact which pest treatment option will be most effective. Three options for eradicating pests include spray treatment, structural fumigation, as well as bait and traps. When you bring in a pest control professional it is likely that one or more of these options will be recommended to deal with your pest problem.

Spray treatment

Spray treatment is a common option for eliminating pests. People who choose the DIY route for pest control typically turn to some type of spray treatment for pests such as ants, spiders, and roaches. Spray treatment options that kill on contact are good to keep around for those times when you see a pest out in the open. There are options for spray treatment that kill pests on contact and options that create a barrier that keeps pests away. Pest control professionals often use a combination of spray treatments to ensure that any current infestation is eradicated and that your home is protected against future infestations.

Structural fumigation

Structural fumigation is one of the most effective options for eliminating pests. The process of structural fumigation involves completely encapsulating your house with a tent designed to keep all of the pest control treatment inside. The treatment is in the form of a gas that can permeate every nook and cranny of your house – including the walls. It takes several days to complete the structural fumigation process and requires quite a bit of preparation. Because of this, structural fumigation is only recommended in situations where an infestation is severe. For example, termites can get into the walls of homes and be impossible to reach by any other treatment method. If you have a termite infestation that has reached that level then structural fumigation may be the best option for you.

Bait and traps

Bait and traps are also an option for eradicating some types of pests. Rodents are typically dealt with using bait and traps. Poisoning a rodent can be problematic if that rodent crawls into a hidden space before it dies. You will then be dealing with the smell of a decomposing rodent. Using bait and traps is a way to deal with the rodents and make sure you do not end up with dead rodents hidden around your house. Another pest that is often dealt with using bait is termites. You can have a termite baiting system installed around the perimeter of your property. It will serve to kill off termites that are currently active at your home and help prevent future issues.

The pest control pro you use will recommend the treatment or combination of treatments that will work best for your situation. Typically, eradication and prevention require a combination of treatment options over time. A big benefit of using a professional – instead of trying to deal with pests on your own – is that you will have someone who is trained to determine which type of treatment option will be the most effective.
