What Will A Pest Control Pro Do For My Business? | San Joaquin Pest Control

If you’re reading this blog, chances are you’ve decided to hire a pest control company to do regular maintenance checks on your business. If so, you’ve made a great decision. This decision has saved many businesses from disasters down the line, be it a health department shut down, or damage to the structure of their buildings. If you’re on the fence about hiring a pest control company, that’s ok too. We hope that by the end of this blog, you’ll be a little more informed about what a pest control technician will actually do during an inspection, and decide to pull the trigger on calling for your first appointment.

There are several things that a pest control tech will do when they come for an inspection, and they all depend on what type of business you have, and where it’s located. However, for the most part, these tasks will fall into one of three categories: Inspection, Elimination and Prevention. Let’s go over each of these important categories:

Inspection

The first thing your technician will do is inspect your space. While you might think this is a step that anyone with good vision can do, no one can do this as well as a pest professional. Pest techs are trained to know each and every little symptom that might mean you have a pest infestation, whether it’s from rodents or termites. Some of these signs might be things you’ve walked past hundreds of times. The first inspection will likely take the longest, since the technician will be looking for signs of any pests. After a few of these regular visits, your tech will get to know your building better, and will get an idea of what exactly to look for.

Elimination

This step is pretty self explanatory, but in detail can mean many different things. This is the process we hope isn’t necessary, but often is. If your pest professional notices the signs of an infestation, checks it out and finds that in fact, you do have one, they’ll go over the different options for eliminating the problem. During this conversation, make sure to bring up any concerns you might have about toxins, ingredients and safety. If you have any special requests, feel more than free to make them, such as using green, environmentally friendly products only. Your pest tech will discuss everything with you beforehand, and then go to work getting rid of any infestations you might be dealing with.

Prevention

The last step is probably our favorite, because it helps you avoid pest problems in the future. Your pest tech will make recommendations based on what they see during the inspection, on changes you can make to your building or practices in order to keep your space a pest free zone. They can even help to implement some of these changes. Paying attention and following the recommendations that your pest tech makes will help you avoid possibly costly fixes later on, and keep your business on track for success.
